Dhananjaya de Silva just replaced Charith Asalanka, so he is likely to start at the same spot in the World Cup. Another thing that works against Asalanka is that he would make Sri Lanka's middle order all left-handed (Asalanka at 3, Gunathilaka at 4, and Rajapaksa at 5), which is something the think-tank would want to avoid.
Don't rule out the possibility that Asalanka will replace Danushka Gunathilaka at some point in the tournament or even right away.
Gunathilaka is not only playing out of position, but he is also in a bad run of form.
Dilshan Madushanka is a top contender for the starting spot, despite the possible returns of Dushamantha Chameera and Lahiru Kumara, who both had good performances during their previous trip to Australia.
Controlled L-Pace is an attractive option since teams like to have a range of styles represented in their bowling unit.
Between Chameera and Kumara, Chameera is far more certain of his position. Kumara will have to contend with Madushanka.
Jeffrey Vandersay will only be considered if Hasaranga or Theekshana is injured; similarly, Pramod Madushan will only be selected if at least two of Karunaratne, Chameera, Kumara, or Dilshan Madushanka are unavailable.
Records from the last three years are not as useful as most people believe, so I like breaking them down into three individual years to assess how a player has performed/progressed - whether his average of 40, for example, is the result of one spectacular year or two good years, and so on. This is why we went into such great detail here.
The "in Australia" category is self-explanatory. The World Cup is being held in Australia, which has very different conditions than the rest of the world. As a result, a player's record in the country offers substantial value in helping you understand more about the individual.
Form - Based on player performance in the 10 games leading up to the World Cup.
FC-LA-T20 - Even though this World Cup is in T20 format, I find it much easier to understand a new player when I am familiar with his records in all three formats. It works especially well when the sample size is small.
5 - Exceptional, 4 - Good, 3 - Average, 2- Mediocre, 1 - Poor
Hasaranga is a no-brainer; he has averaged 1.77 wickets per game in recent years and is also useful with the bat and on the field.
Chamika Karunaratne's fantasy potential has suffered over the last year, with Sri Lanka using his bowling in safer passages of the game and him not getting much game time with the bat, but the bigger boundaries and pace on the wicket will help him be a bit more incisive with the ball in this World Cup in Australia.
Moreover, there are numerous risks associated with the rest of the lineup: the specialist batters are mediocre, someone like Theekshana, while exceptionally good on economy rate, may not get enough wickets to make a difference from a fantasy standpoint, and Chameera is returning from a long break.
Keep an eye out for Kusal Mendis. Because of his rise in the batting order and the enhanced wicketkeeping value, he is one of the better budget fixers in this lineup.
Dushmantha Chameera is the team's best differential. Many people will not take him seriously because of 'recency bias' , which you may leverage to your advantage.
He can bowl fast, move the new ball, and hit the deck hard - pretty much everything you need to thrive in Australia. It wasn't surprising, therefore, to see him have a successful series when Sri Lanka last visited Australia (check section- Squad Home - for Overall Australia Numbers)

This is my favourite part of the whole thing, and you can learn a lot from it. Here are some observations, for example:

Dhananjaya de Silva just replaced Charith Asalanka, so he is likely to start at the same spot in the World Cup. - Being within striking distance of a top-four finish will be a significant achievement for the Dasun Shanaka-led team.

- Sri Lanka is a mediocre squad with a high number of one-level highlighted bars (indicating mediocrity) and a low number of three-level highlighted bars (indicating high-quality).
- Left-handed batters have a significantly better chance of succeeding against the Lankan bowling team than right-handed batters (provided the quality of batters in comparison is the same).
- A good quality right-handed batter, for example, will still outperform an average left-handed batter. Use this in a daily fantasy situation when you have to choose two batters of the same calibre (good vs good or average vs average).
- The batting unit is highly vulnerable against express pace, which is one of the main reasons why the side is likely to struggle in Australia.
